Upcoming Workshops
Bookbinding Buffet
Saturday, August 19th, 2017 | 10am-2pm
In this class, students will have the opportunity to practice a few different styles of bindings: a pamphlet-stitched binding, an accordion-style binding, a Japanese stab binding, and a hardcover binding called the stacked folio. Students will leave class with a sample of each.
We will talk about paper, tools, and the suitability of different kinds of bindings for different purposes. All levels welcome (no experience necessary) and all materials will be provided.

All-Levels Letterpress
Saturday, September 16th, 2017 | 10am-3pm
Beginning students as well as students who have taken Intro to Typesetting and Letterpress (or have some letterpress experience) are eligible for this class, in which we will hone typesetting and printing skills on flatbed presses. We will also explore further letterpress techniques: printing and registering more than one color, using type-high linoleum blocks, and printing for simple book structures. Class will be focused on what students are interested in learning. Students should bring (very) short text(s) that they would like to typeset and print, a high-contrast drawing that they would like to make into a relief block, as well as a pencil, Sharpie, and notebook.
